  The City of Long Beach Uses Parking Meters To Create Revenue In An UnEthical Manner. For example - The meter will only allow a 30 minute payment. The activity the meter is placed in front of will require 45-60 minutes on average. They know this so when you go to renew your meter at the 30 minute mark a parking enforcement agent is standing at the meter waiting for the time to run out and will issue you a $49 Citation even though you are standing there too trying to put 30 more minutes on the meter. Some Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deptartment officers witnessed this when it happened to me and shook their heads along with me. Apparently you just can't park there unless you want to pay $49.00 to park. Then the city allows automated payments providing you pay an additional fee to have the convenience of a credit card over the phone vs. driving down to pay in person or by taking the time to mail in the payment - which if late - becomes now doubled to $98.00. To assure payment I paid the "Convenience fee" over the telephone and was further extorted by the city of Long Beach. I have no interest now in bringing my business to Long Beach or doing business with the business license division or any other business in Long Beach as well as a result of the parking meter scam the City of Long Beach is running..
